Demux menu |
This is the menu to go for when you would like to watch i.e.
SCPC signals or encounter channels that appear to be scrambled but are not according to
various frequency lists. In order to reconstruct the video- and audio signals, the
receiver needs something called PID codes (Package Identification Data). Normally, those
codes will be automatically recognised so you don't have to worry about them, but in some
cases it might be required to enter them manually. Both video and audio require their own
PID code. To enter the video PID, press '2' on the remote. Now enter the 4-character code and confirm by pressing OK. Press LEFT arrow to get back to the DEMUX menu and press 3 to enter the audio code. As with the video PID, enter the 4 characters by using the remote and confirm with OK. You might have notticed by looking at frequency lists that show PID codes that the actual 4-character code you need to enter not just contains numbers, but also characters. The receiver expects the entered code to be in hexadecimal format which means 0-9 and A-F are allowed. Some buttons on the remote have double functions to allow you to also enter the characters A-F. Here's how they are arranged :
Now let's finish this off with an example. The following is a step to step procedure to enable the reception of 'TV VANDAAG' as can be found on Astra at 12.441V.
You have saved the entered parameters at factory location number 3. If at any time during normal mode you wish to recall the channel, bring back the internal menu, press TV followed by 3. Users of software version 5.0 or above, please click here for an alternative method of storing TV Vandaag. There is also a 4th PID code. This PID is used to synchronize the encoder (uplink) and decoder (downlink) and is called PCR which stands for Program Clock Reference. Many SCPC signals eg. use an extra PID (=PID4) to synchronize the multiplex. For SCPC the usual value for PID 4 is 1FFE which is equal to 8190 (decimal). Most channels transmitted in packages set the sync to the video or audio (then PID 4 is 1FFF = not used). You can read the PCR-PID by selecting PCR control in the miscell. submenu (demux menu). The front display shows the PCR-PID (eg 2 for sync set to video / 3 for audio / 4 = seperate PCR PID). The last phrase () means that if you have used a factory preset once then the PID info from the once received signal is loaded into the demux registers. If you use this preset again for another signal then the new PID info cannot be downloaded into the demux registers. To avoid this simply switch presets before receiving another signal. |
